You can build amazing things – but sometimes it’s not obvious how (or why) to do it. This small group of articles explains the basics of composites – the benefits and the costs – and should give an appreciation for the potential gray areas.
For an industry that is 70+ years old, there is still a lot of confusion about when composites are a good choice, how to choose a suitable process, and how to actually build parts. My goal with EC! is to help fill in some of the blanks and make it easier to have success with composites.

How EC! Works
Organization isn’t a natural strength of mine, but I am trying to be as systematic as possible in organizing this site. Here’s how it (is supposed to) work:
- Articles: This is the main “book” part – it is organized loosely by topic.
- Library: Materials Reference and Laminate Sample Library
- Directory: This is a work in progress – I’m trying to make a huge “Links” page for composite resources around the world.
- Community: The not-just-me-writing part. Well, mostly me so far. Blog, Discord Server, Social Media, YouTube, Example Projects…
- About EC!: What is this, who, why… stuff like that.
